Since its establishment, Youth Go Green Organization has realized remarkable achievements as follows;
Mobilization of youth across the country
Mobilization and engagement of youth across the country to participate in various climate change, environmental and Sustainable Development Interventions Mobilization of youth and communities to engage in biodiversity conservation activities such as tree planting, waste recycling for charcoal briquettes and provision of clean and safe water, implementation of water for production projects in collaboration with Ministry of Water and Environment, National Forestry Authority ( and other partners
Active participation in Global Climate Change
Active participation in Global Climate Change processes that include training, dialogues and negotiations during Subsidiary Body meetings and Conference of the Parties organized by under auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) with support of Uganda Government, UNDP and other Development partners
First ever African Conference of youth on climate change
Secured nomination to organize the First ever African Conference of youth on climate change and its linkages with the SDGs in Uganda in 2017 which was mainly funded by UNDP, FAO and the Government This regional conference brought together more than 1 000 African Youth in a single space of discussion on challenges, opportunities and prospects in advancing solutions to climate change, Biodiversity conservation and SDGs
Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Water
Established and Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Water and Environment
Innovative Youth Engagement in waste management
Under the Youth Skilling, innovation, and empowerment component, Youth Go Green received funding from GIZ and we successfully implemented the “Innovative Youth Engagement in waste management” in Kampala and Gulu city
Partnered with Disaster Risk Reduction Department
Partnered with Disaster Risk Reduction Department in the Office of the Prime Minister to tackle climate change and its associated disasters through youth engagement
Partnering with Parliament of Uganda
The organization is also currently partnering with a number of government institutions such as Parliament of Uganda to undertake climate change and forestry initiatives, Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) planting indigenous and ornamental trees on the road reserves and National Forestry Authority (NFA) where Youth Go Green has significantly contributed to restoration of the degraded Central Forest Reserves and other degraded areas for instance Youth Go Green has so far planted and distributed over 4 5 Million trees of indigenous species and fruits across the country
Restoration of River Rwizi
Restoration of River Rwizi where we planted over 15,000 bamboo trees supported by WWF as part of our biodiversity conservation campaign
Go Green clubs in primary and secondary schools
Youth Go Green launched Go Green clubs in primary and secondary schools as well as chapters in Universities. These interventions are meant to create awareness on climate change mitigation and adaption measures, advocacy, waste recycling for charcoal briquettes production among others
Youth Go Green has engaged local communities in almost all parts of the country by involving youth, women and other vulnerable groups that are most affected by adverse effects of Climate change Some of the activities include distribution of fruit and tree seedlings to schools and community tree growers, sensitization and awareness campaigns on land restoration, biodiversity conservation, climate smart agriculture practices, environmental and climate change by laws, policies and strategies to enhance community resilience, improve food security and sustainable natural resources management
